Getting to know your SmartClean Connected is important before you put it into action. We’ll show you how. This is the docking station where your robot will go when it’s done cleaning or to charge the battery. These are the contact points on your robot and its docking station. They must be fully connected to correctly charge your machine. Under the top cover of the machine, you will find the dustbin.
To charge your robot, you have the option to plug the ACDC adapter cord into this port then into an outlet. Here, you’ll find the power switch. This must be on to both clean and charge your robot. The LED control panel on your machine is where you can manually select a runtime and navigation pattern. This display will tell you when your battery is low, when the dustbin is full, or any error codes.
Now, carefully lay the machine on its back to view the other components. Your SmartClean has three wheels: two rear wheels and one front wheel for turning. There are three brushes on your SmartClean: one brush roll and two optional edge-cleaning brushes. The battery on your smart clean is under the battery cover plate. To remove the plate, press the grooves above the two circles of the battery cover and slide the cover to open. That’s it. Now you’re ready to put your SmartClean to work.
Symbols and UI Explanation SmartClean Connected
To understand how to use your SmartClean Connected, you’ll first need to understand what the different symbols on the LED control panel mean. The control panel can be used to manually set up your robot for cleaning. To select a cleaning time, press the clock button on the control panel.
There are seven different runtimes that can be selected. If you want your robot to return to its docking station after it’s done cleaning, there will be a dock icon that will show next to the runtime on the display. When two zeros show up with a dock icon on the display, your robot will find its way back to the docking station without doing any cleaning. If the display shows a runtime with no dock icon, then your robot will clean and stop where it is when the timer has run out without returning to the dock.
Your SmartClean uses different navigation patterns to clean. In spot mode, the robot will clean in circles until it encounters an obstacle. Once it encounters an obstacle, it will automatically switch to auto mode. In auto mode, the robot will cycle through all cleaning modes to clean.
When you see the low battery icon, it’s time to charge your battery. The power LED will also change from green to red. When the trashcan icon shows on the display, the dustbin is full and needs to be emptied. That’s it. Now you’re ready to get your SmartClean to work.
Cleaning the Dust Bin SmartClean Connected
Emptying and cleaning the dustbin and your SmartClean Connected is easy. We’ll show you how. To start turn, the machine off and unplug it if it’s connected to the charging port. Then, open the top cover. Pull up on the dustbin handle to remove the dustbin. Next, open the top cover of the dustbin and unsnap the dustbin filter and set the filter aside.
Empty the dust and dirt from the dustbin into a wastebasket. Although it’s not necessary every time, the dustbin can be rinsed with tap water. You can clean the filter with the cleaning tool found on the lid of the dustbin. Doing this periodically will keep your robot running smoothly.
Once the dustbin is clean and dry and the filter is clean, you can snap the filter back into place. Let the dustbin dry for 24 hours. Ensure that the dustbin is completely dry before putting it back in the robot. Now, place it back into the robot under the top cover. Close the top cover on the machine. That’s it. Now you’re ready to let your SmartClean get to work.
Invisible Wall Set Up SmartClean Connected
The invisible wall is used to block your SmartClean Connected from entering or leaving a room. Setting it up is easy and we’ll show you how. Hold the invisible wall and press firmly while sliding downward to remove the battery cover. Then, insert four AA batteries with the terminals on each battery aligning with the directions indicated in the battery compartment and slide the battery cover into place. To turn the invisible wall on, slide the switch away from the light toward the eye symbol. Place the invisible wall in front of a room that you intend to block and do not want the robot to clean. That’s it. Now you’re ready to get your SmartClean to work.
Pairing Process SmartClean Connected
To take advantage of your robot’s app capabilities, you must first connect or pair your robot with your smartphone. In this article, we’ll show you the pairing process. To begin, you’ll need to download the Bissell Connect app. It’s slightly different for iPhones vs. Android devices. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID and password or Google Play login.
Now, open the app and sign in. There are three ways to sign in. You can sign into the app with your bissell.com username and password or you can sign up and create one. You can also log in with your Facebook or Google account. This may require you to log in to those if this is your first time using the Bissell Connect app.
Next, click the get started option. This should automatically open your camera on your mobile device. You may need to allow the app to use your camera in order to pair correctly. The QR code is located under the dustbin lid. Press the bin cover to open and find the QR code. Hold the camera over the QR code and follow the prompts.
Next, you are going to grab your robot and turn it on by pressing the switch on the side to the on position. Now, press and hold the power button until it begins to blink blue. Following the app instructions, your phone and robot will begin to pair and will begin a firmware update. This is normal the first time using it and could take several minutes.
When the update is complete, you will now need to connect to your home Wi-Fi. Select your home Wi-Fi from the list and make sure your phone and the robot are close to your wireless router. You will need to know your Wi-Fi password. Once this setup is complete, you can name your robot and be on your way to setting a cleaning schedule, reading our blog tips, and playing with all the fun features on your Bissell Connect app.
