If you enjoy building things, and working with wood, then you’re already well-aware of just how important sanding is. When you don’t sand the wood that you are using for your project, then the wood is often rough and uneven. But, when you do sand, the wood becomes flat and even, making it significantly easier for you to align the different pieces of wood. It’s also a lot easier for you to paint them, and to make each individual piece of wood look as beautiful as you want it to.
We’re going to look at the POWERWORKS XB 20V Cordless 5-Inch Orbital Sander. This is an excellent sander, and you are going to learn about the unique features and attributes that it offers!

What Does The POWERWORKS Orbital Sander Offer?
The POWERWORKS Orbital Sander is a five-inch orbital sander. So, an orbital sander is a sander that has a circular shape. The actual sanding device does not have a circular shape – in fact, the POWERWORKS XB Orbital Sander looks just like a regular sander – but the sanding portion of the device does, and that sanding portion has a diameter of five-inches.
When you are using the sander, and sanding those rough and jagged pieces of wood, the orbital sander moves in a circular motion. It’s not the largest sander, but it’s incredibly precise. If there are specific areas on the wood that require sanding work to be done, then the Orbital Sander is a great sander to use, due to the small sanding diameter and the orbital motions that it makes, during the sanding process.
During the sanding process, you can use the orbital sander to spin a sanding pad at up to 24,000 SPM. Now, obviously, this is dependent on the sanding pad that you purchase. But, at this speed, it’s very easy for the POWERWORKS XB 20V Cordless 5-Inch Orbital Sander to remove the blemishes and disjointed spots on the wood that you are sanding, making the process easier and quicker.
To adjust the speed of the sander, there is a small dial that you can use. This dial gives you six different speeds to choose from, each one is quite useful, depending on the project that you are currently working on.
As you are sanding, all of the dust goes into a small dust collection container. It’s not a very large container, but it’s easy to remove and empty out. And, of course, it does keep the dust contained, so that it isn’t flying everywhere.
To power the POWERWORKS Orbital Sander, you’ll need to use the Powerworks XB Battery. This battery is great, because it can power every POWERWORKS XB device, along with many other 20V and 40V devices. Unfortunately, though, neither the battery, or the charger, is included.
At the end of the day, if you don’t mind having to buy a battery, the POWERWORKS XB 20V Cordless 5-Inch Orbital Sander is a fantastic sander that makes quick work of whatever sanding task your throw at it. It’s cheap, easy-to-use, and very efficient!
